Join fellow Lead DSM alumni for a unique, outdoor experience with the City of Clive’s Greenbelt goats—an innovative and sustainable approach to land management happening right here in Greater Des Moines. This in-person gathering offers a firsthand look at how environmental stewardship, public policy, and creative problem-solving come together to protect natural spaces and serve the community.

The City of Clive’s targeted grazing program uses goats to manage invasive plant species along the Greenbelt, reducing the need for chemicals and machinery while supporting healthier ecosystems. It’s a practical example of leadership in action—where long-term thinking, sustainability, and community impact intersect.

During this two-hour outdoor event, you’ll:

  • Learn how targeted grazing works and why goats are an effective, eco-friendly solution for land management
  • Hear from City of Clive staff about the planning, partnerships, and decision-making behind the program
  • Explore the Greenbelt while seeing sustainability practices at work in a real-world setting
  • Connect with fellow alumni in a relaxed, engaging environment—goats included

This experience offers a chance to step outside the boardroom, slow down, and see leadership through the lens of environmental stewardship and community innovation.
